Derbyshire County Stop Smoking Service offers a Specialist Service is available to all smokers who wish to stop, and especially to smokers who may have tried stopping smoking before. It is THE most effective way to stop smoking. A smoker is 4 times more likely to stop smoking using this service than by stopping smoking ‘cold turkey’. It consists of about 7 weekly (or more) support sessions where both support and treatment are available, dependant on each client’s needs. The treatment can be in either Nicotine Replacement Therapy form (eg, patches or gum) or the non-nicotine based medication (prescription required from GP). Clients may attend groups or one to one sessions with a trained and experienced advisor. Monday/Tuesday evenings and some daytime sessions are held in this venue.
