Breast Feeding

A new scheme has been set up in South Derbyshire to encourage Mums to Breastfeed.

The 'Breastfeeding Welcome Here' award has been developed by South Derbyshire District Council and Derbyshire County Council Children's Center's. The scheme aims to attract local businesses to take part by :-

• Welcoming mums to breastfeed anywhere on their premises
• Not ask breastfeeding mums to move or leave the premises
• Training staff to know that their business supports the scheme
• Display the 'Breastfeeding Welcome Here' certificate
• Provide drinking water for mums breastfeeding

In return businesses receive the following benefits:-

• Attracting new families who stay longer and spend more money
• Breastfeeding mums tend to return time after time
• Improved customer service
• Good publicity
• New customers!
