New to Exercise Scheme
The South Derbyshire "New to Exercise" Scheme is a partnership between South Derbyshire District Council, Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust and Greenbank Leisure Centre. To get onto the Scheme you need to be referred by a Health Practitioner at any South Derbyshire Surgeries (this includes your GP, Practice Nurse, Health Visitor, Physiotherapist etc) and for one for the following reasons:- * Risk of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) * Stroke (CVA) * High Blood Pressure * Diabetes (Type 1 & 2) * Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) / Asthma * Osteoarthritis * Osteoporosis * Weight reduction for a Body Mass Index of over 30 * Social / Mental Health / Depression The Scheme lasts 20 sessions over a maximum period of 15 weeks. On your first session you will see a fitness instructor at the start to discuss your physical activity likes and dislikes and jointly agree a realistic and achievable activity plan. At the start, middle and end of the Scheme the changes in your physical activity level, body measurements, confidence, motivation, will be measured. Once you finish the scheme, the fitness instructor will encourage you to maintain the physical activities you were doing throughout the Scheme and a brief report will be submitted to your GP practice to inform them of completion and progress.
Swadlincote Swimming Club
Competitive swimming from the age of four up to open. We compete in a variety of local galas and have good links to county swimming.

The Old Post Centre
A community café that offers a varied menu to the local community. The café also provides catering for any functions at the Old Post Centre such as study days, corporate meetings and private parties. Recently started a luncheon club.

Damsons & Damson jam in season, & free range hen and duck eggs when the noticeboard is out.

Home-grown herbs and salad crops. Internet ordering for home or work delivery of a wide range of other local products.
Willington Green Delicatessen
(Outside of South Derbyshire district) Home & locally made meals, pies, cakes, desserts & preserves using some local ingredients. Café with light refreshments.
Willow Orchard Farm
Traditional free-range pork and eggs, duck eggs, homemade produce (e.g. pork pies, jams and chutneys) and even the vegetables sold are grown on site.

Weight Loss groups
Be Size Wise
This is a free weight management programme led by qualified NHS advisors, in a group setting. Sessions are held at Swadlincote Clinic in the evenings and Newhall 0ld Post Centre on a Tuesday morning. To get onto the Be Size Wise programme you need to be referred via your GP, be over 16 and have a Body Mass Index of over 30, with other associated health conditions.
