Get Active in the Forest

What is Get Active in the Forest?

Get Active in The Forest (GAIF) is based at Rosliston Forestry Centre and is a way of being active, having fun and burning calories all at the same time. It's an outdoor activity programme which encourages community participation in sport and physical activity.

What activities can I do?

There is a wide ranging programme of different physical activities - both at Rosliston Forestry Centre and around South Derbyshire. These activities are suitable for beginners, and include Walking, Cycling, Tai Chi and Nordic Walking, Woodland laser combat, Orienteering and Archery.

Most of the activities take place outdoors and make the most of our natural environment. Studies show that the environment plays a vital part in our mental well-being. When compared with exercising indoors, exercising outdoors has a greater effect in lifting self-esteem and mood levels and decreasing levels of depression.

How often are these activities?

Many of the activities take part on a weekly basis and anyone can join in. All the activities are led by either a member of staff or a trained volunteer. Other activities that do not take place on a weekly basis can be booked in advance by groups.

Please use the links on the left hand side of the page to read more about your chosen activity.
